แมงคามเป็นลูกชายของพ่อแม่ที่เป็นคนบ้านนอกเข้ากรุง เกิดและโตในกรุงเทพฯ และรักการแต่งเพลงมากที่สุดในโลก เขานิยามเพลงของตัวเองว่า “หลานทุ่ง” — บทเพลงรุ่นถัดมาจากลูกทุ่ง ที่เอาสำเนียงของพื้นถิ่นมาผสมกับสารพัดความเป็นไปได้
Mangkham is the son of parents who left the countryside for the city. Born and raised in Bangkok, he loves writing songs more than anything in the world. He calls his music “Lan Thung” — the next generation of Luk Thung, where the voice of the countryside meets every possibility.

ถ้าลูกทุ่งคือเพลงของคนรุ่นพ่อแม่ หลานทุ่งก็คือเพลงของรุ่นหลาน ที่โตมากับทั้งหมอลำ ลำตัด เพลงแหล่ ลิเก เสภา และโลกสมัยใหม่ไปพร้อมกัน แมงคามเชื่อว่าวิธีรักษาวัฒนธรรมที่ดีที่สุด คือการทำให้มันมีชีวิตอยู่ในปัจจุบัน ไม่ใช่เก็บไว้ในตู้กระจก
If Luk Thung is the music of our parents’ generation, Lan Thung is the music of their grandchildren — a generation raised on Mor Lam, Lam Tad, Pleng Lae, Likay and Sepha as much as on the modern world. Mangkham believes the best way to preserve a culture is to keep it alive in the present, not behind glass.

ก่อนจะมาทำเพลง แมงคามเติบโตในโรงละคร เป็นนักแสดงและสมาชิกของคณะอนัตตา ร่วมงานกับศิลปินแห่งชาติ ประดิษฐ์ ประสาททอง มาอย่างยาวนาน ได้เรียนรู้การหยิบศิลปะพื้นบ้านมาเล่าเรื่องสังคม ประวัติศาสตร์ และการเมืองร่วมสมัย รากตรงนี้ยังอยู่ในทุกเพลงที่เขาเขียน
Before music, Mangkham grew up on stage — an actor and member of Anatta Theatre, a long-time collaborator with National Artist Pradit Prasarthong. There he learned to use folk arts to tell stories of society, history and contemporary politics. That root still runs through every song he writes.

เขาเคยทำเพลงในแบบเพลงตลาดกับ RS ทั้งเขียน ร้อง และกำกับมิวสิกวิดีโอ มีเพลงอย่าง “ห้านาทีบรรลุธรรม” และ “ไอ้โจ๋ในตำนาน” ก่อนจะกลับมาทำสิ่งที่อยากทำจริงๆ ในอัลบั้ม “เพลงหลานทุ่ง” ที่ตีความลูกทุ่งผ่านเรื่องชีวิต ความรัก และสังคมที่กำลังเปลี่ยน
He spent years making mainstream pop at RS — writing, performing, and directing music videos, with songs like “Five-Minute Enlightenment” and “The Legendary Rascal” — before returning to the work he most wanted to make: the album “Lan Thung,” reimagining Luk Thung through everyday life, love, and a shifting society.

The project closest to his heart right now uses Luk Thung, folk, and classical Thai song to tell stories of knowledge, nature, and the environment — with joy and in plain language — in the belief that culture and innovation are one and the same, and that Thai melisma knows no limit.
ฝีมือและการเรียนรู้Craft
แมงคามผ่านการฝึกฝนการประพันธ์กลอนและทำนองพื้นบ้านไทย-ลาว ทั้งหมอลำ ลิเก ลำตัด เพลงแหล่ เสภา และกันตรึม พูดและแต่งกลอนภาษาอีสานได้ และฟังภาษาลาวออกอย่างลึกซึ้ง เขาจบปริญญาตรีด้านการแสดงและกำกับการแสดง คณะศิลปกรรมศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยศรีนครินทรวิโรฒ
Mangkham trained extensively in Thai-Lao poetic composition and folk melody — Mor Lam, Likay, Lam Tad, Pleng Lae, Sepha and Kantrum. He composes in the Isan dialect and has a deep ear for Lao. He holds a BA in Acting and Directing from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University.

He hopes to spend his remaining breath making good work — so that one day, when he is gone, the work lives on in his place.
